OXFORDSHIRE FAMILY HOME
Our clients’ large Georgian house in South Oxfordshire was already well-appointed, but there was a need for a fabulous teen snug and for a newly configured guest bedroom suite at the top of the house.
This project involved spatial planning, 2D and 3D digital design drawings; colour/room schemes; materials, furniture and equipment procurement and sourcing; management of tradespeople; installation and final ‘glossy magazine’ styling.
THE TEEN SNUG
Our brief for the Snug was to create a room for the teenagers to relax in - to hang out with their mates and to watch TV. This room had always been cold and uninviting - we warmed it up with a radiator overhaul, specified luxe, interlined Colefax & Fowler wool curtains and pelmets and chose mellow colours for the walls and fabrics. A ‘wow factor’ was top of the brief and Charlotte’s choice of the woodland wallpapered ceiling ticked the box for everyone and added a timeless focal point.
GUEST BEDROOM & ENSUITE BATHROOM
The guest bedroom project began with the repositioning of the bed to the middle of the wall, under the apex of the ceiling and a pretty little central window. Our clients had a favourite deep aubergine velvet quilt which they wanted to use, so this sumptuous colour became the beginnings of the cosy palette of purple, bone china blue and cream.
The bathroom was given a ‘refresh’ with a coat of warm stone-hued paint, Zellige tiles and fabric lampshades to continue the blue theme through from the bedroom. A bespoke waterproof sisal rug and a few carefully chosen antiques and pictures add texture and personality.
